Greenhow’s Tarn – Graythwaite Estate
Nestled within the stunning woodland of the Graythwaite Estate, Greenhow’s Tarn is an exclusive 4.5-acre trout fishery offering a truly refined fly fishing experience. This intimate water has been carefully developed to provide both accessibility and seclusion, creating the perfect environment for anglers seeking quality sport in peaceful surroundings.
Stocked with a superb head of outsized trout, the tarn features an exciting and diverse range of species including rainbow trout, brown trout, spartics, golden trout, and blue trout. These hard-fighting fish, combined with the clear, intimate nature of the water, deliver exceptional sport throughout the season.
Greenhow’s Tarn is particularly renowned as a fantastic stalking and sight fishing water, where anglers can actively hunt individual fish and experience the thrill of targeting visible cruisers. The lake’s layout, paired with thoughtfully positioned casting areas, allows for precise presentation and rewarding top-of-the-water action — ideal for dry fly enthusiasts and those who appreciate technical, visual angling.
Designed as a premium addition to the already outstanding fishing on Esthwaite Water Fisheries, Greenhow’s Tarn perfectly complements the broader fishery portfolio by offering a more intimate, technical and immersive fly fishing venue.
