FISHING AT ESTHWAITE

A premier Lake District venue for Trout, Pike & Coarse Fishing

Esthwaite Water offers year-round Coarse fishing, seasonal Brown Trout fishing, and one of the best natural Pike fisheries in the North. With 280 acres of peaceful water and the choice of bank or boat fishing, there’s something for every angler — from complete beginners to experienced predator anglers.

TROUT FISHING

 The lake is stocked with high-quality Brown Trout and offers excellent sport for fly, spin, or worm anglers. With 280 acres of peaceful water, even complete beginners can enjoy Trout fishing with help from our experienced team.

  • Season dates: 15th March – 30th September

  • Methods allowed: Fly, spin or worm

  • Day permit (Adult): £25

  • Half Day permit (Adult): £20

  • Junior permit: £15

  • Junior half day permit: £10

  • Boat full day: £30

  • Boat half day/evening £20

  • Season permit : £350

  • Season permit + boat: £600​

  • Fly fishing tuition available.

COARSE / BANK FISHING

Esthwaite offers year-round Coarse fishing from the bank. Ideal for relaxed days out, families, or anglers targeting Roach, Perch, Tench, Eels, Bream and hybrids during the open season.

  • Coarse / Bank Permit: £15

  • Season permit 12 month £220.

  • Overnight Fishing: £15 per person, per night​

  • The best natural Coarse fishery in the North.

  • Stock includes: Bream, Roach, Perch, Hybrids, Tench and Eels.

  • No bait restrictions.

  • Keep nets allowed

PIKE FISHING

Pike fishing on Esthwaite Water is available from 1st October to 31st March. This is strictly a cold-season fishery to protect the Pike during spawning and warm months.

  • Day permit (dawn till dusk) £25

  • One man boat £55 two man boat £80 (including permits).

  • Bank Season permit: £250

  •  Boat season permit: £500​

Guided Pike Fishing

  • Available: 1st October – 31st March

  • Price: £300 - includes permits, boat hire, guide and all tackle. (Excludes EA licences and bait)​

Important: Pike fishing is not suitable for complete beginners unless accompanied by an experienced angler or one of our guides.
